Dr. Lewis is the Program Director of the Masters of Computer Science. He is the recipient of numerous Outstanding Achievement: Teacher of the Year awards at the College of Engineering, Computer Science. He is the recipient of the Diversity & Inclusiveness Award; “Innovations in Scholarship for Inclusiveness". He is the recipient of Outstanding Achievement: Inventor of the Year University of Colorado, for his innovative work in computational neuroscience. He is the recipient of the prestigious Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Faculty fellowship. He has also served on NSF and NIH panels selecting recipients for research funding in Artificial Intelligence, Computational Neurosciences, Robotics in Medicine, particularly in neurosurgery and Robotic Sentience.


Dr. Lewis has delivered keynote addresses at i)The Sixth International Conference on Neuroscience & Cognitive Brain Information BRAININF0, Nice, France. Nov 28-29, 2017 Palo Alto, CA, where Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google, was in the audience, and at iii) The 2nd Annual Autonomous Capabilities for DoD Summit Sept 19-20, 2018 in Maryland where he addressed Deputy Chief of Staffs, generals and high level DoD officials on Artificial Intelligence and Medical Robotic Sentience, comparing research in these areas in academia and industry compared to the DoD. see here.


Dr. Lewis conducts his research at both the University of Colorado's Colorado Springs campus and the neuroICU ward at the Anschutz Medical School campus. He has also worked at Warsaw University and the Pentagon where he has Secret Clearance and is a Senior Research Fellow in machine learning systems for Intelligence Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) Military AI in Medical Instruments for the field. The Solvay International Conference

Founded by the Belgian industrialist Ernest Solvay, this 5th conference is considered as the turning point as the world’s most notable physicists met to discuss the newly formulated quantum theory. The leading figures were Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr
