Grading

You start off with 10 extra points, which you have no "right" to at all. They are a gift to you from me. You can never complain about how you may have lost these points because you never possessed them, or had a right to them in the first place. It is your responsibility to not lose these "brownie" points I bestow to you. You can lose points if you do not participate in class, do not complete your homework or don't do your reading. You will lose 3 points if your phone rings just one little chirp in class. If you lose your mind, and are rude enough to actually walk out of class to answer your phone (yes even if its on vibrate), you immediately and effectively relinquish 5 points -- Unless its your wife giving birth or a person saying your mom, dad, or child have died. Note to self: Keep all points by simply doing your homework, participating in class and turning off your phone.

I don’t grade on a curve or a rigid “90-100 is an A” type of scale. I am perfectly willing to give the entire class A’s or the entire class F’s. I grade in terms of how society will grade you:

A – Guru
B – Vice President
C – Middle Manager - with a bookmark at Monster.com
D – Frankly, you should start looking for another job.
F – Come on, you’re not even trying.

Attendance

Its important to make it to each and every class. Grades are given for work that is presented by you at each class. If you do miss a class please be aware of the following. It is your responsibility, not the professor's responsibility to both find out what work you missed and then handing it in on time. For example, if you are unable to make class, you need to call, text or email your classmates (if you do not have one find one now) and ask them for the assignment and the due date. If you know you'll miss a class: Tell us the reason beforehand. If its a good reason there will not be a subtraction of your Class Participation grades.

Cheating

Cheating is heinous, rude, and bad karma. It is not only unfair to other students but it rots your moral character and threatens the very fabric of our society. There are very few things that make us mad, but cheating is one of them. Please do not do it. We will prosecute all cheating to the fullest extent of the law.

Late Policy

I usually have an extremely lenient late policy in my classes. And I will be happy to work with you if something unexpected comes up and you can’t complete an assignment by the time it’s due.

Make-Up Policy

Does not exist.  Its your choice to miss a class, quiz or exam.  Its also your choice to ask for a make-up and consequently lose some of your 10 "brownie" points. No exceptions. Ask for a make up assignment and you lose you 10 points.
